experian doing furthe checks?!

I applied for my credit report a few weeks ago (the thought of looking at it makes me feel sick). Couldnt get the free trial thing, now have had an email from them saying they need to do further checks on me. Why?
i need it sharpish as I am getting call after call from First Credit. I want to get my DMP set up sooner rather than later
