Fallen angel laughing n letting go...

Options
Well, I'm feeling surprisingly philosophical after a day at work that's made my brain hurt. So, not often feeling the need to take such a 'philophicalised' view of life I thought I'd make the most of it.
Now, I'm hardly Socrates, so just bear with me on this one...

Paying off my loan has been blooming hard work, but, like most things in life, there's always lessons to be learnt, and not just to never do it again, haha.
So here goes some of the main things I've learnt :

1. To be accountable for my actions X:AX
2. To just let things go... X  X
3. To take the p**s out of myself, in short, to basically laugh as often as possible!----> (and, as someone who is particularly prone to blonde moments, I've learnt to be quite good at this, lol)

Now unfortunately, philosophy not being my fort!, Im gonna have to give u example to try n explain wot the chuff im going on about, n the best one I have is from a chat show where the guest said:
"Yes, I heard the voice that said 'Stay away from him'", but I replied "Oh but there's so much potential there..." :rotfl:
Ive realised that if I'm so proud to take responsibility for handling my finances, I, er, might, er possibly, erm, maybe potentially perchance, need to, er, take at least some of the, er, ahem, responsibility for, erm, why I'm in this position in the, er first place... Now, believe me, this aint easy!!

Here's where the laughing bit comes in...

If you think about why ur in debt in the first place in a different way, it can sometimes almost be funny:

"Yes I heard the voice that said 'money can't buy you love', and I replied, 'but for everything else theres Mastercard!'" :rotfl:

And this is also part of the 'letting things go'. There's a story I read somewhere of a guy who had his brand new car wrecked, who said, "Well, we can either have a great night, or we can sit and mope and have a terrible night. Either way the car's wrecked!!" :rotfl:

In other words, hating your boyfriend, job, family, friends, life, god, ur guardian angel's day off, or even the universe in general doesnt change naff all, only the quality of ur day! I've realised that I can make things oh so much worse for myself just by focusing on...basically, what, in the long run really doesnt really matter (interestingly enough others usually automatically sense this and react to this and in the past Ive found myself having a terrible day at work just cos of the mood I arrived in!). So instead I choose to acknowledge my 'doh' moments (of which there are maaaaannnnyyyyyy) and move on...

So, ive seen that uve all got a great sense of humour, and can laugh at urselves. So, I thought I'd set a challenge:
Answer the following question

I am in debt because....

Ooo, scary question if answered honestly. Now the idea behind this is not to go off on a rant about the atrocities of capatalist societies, the abomination that is the high street banks of the 21st Century, your evil ex-boyfriend or husband (aka the earthly incarnation of satan) that left u with debts, etc etc etc etc. Oh poor us, the world is so harsh...
Well, unfortunately this simply doesnt work n we're not really helping ourselves in the long run.
In the words of another philosopher/writer/whatever the heck he was:

"I think, therefore I am."

If u believe that the world is harsh, by heck its gonna prove u right. If u believe urself to be hard done by, there probably aint gonna b many changes to that in the near future.

Now here's the hard bit...
If we can, er, possibly, erm, maybe concede just a teeny tad, a er litte minute admittance, that, er, we've...ahem...made all our (cough cough) own choices, as, erm, adults...

In fact, Nobody's perfect. Heck, i sure aint that's for sure, haha! If nothing else paying off what I need to pay off has sure as hell shown me that. And it cant half be liberating to admit this. Like most people I try my best to be the best person I can......with mixed success! Some choices have been spot on......others not so great! Sometimes outside forces have had a negative effect on my life, but if i think of me in my highest state of !!!!osity, I've no doubt also had a negative effect on other people. That's life! Let it go n forgive urself all ur mistakes, n others theirs.

Ooo I really am getting a tad too philosophical now, ahem, so anyway wil bring myself back to the less serious jokey Brit I am n have a go at putting it in practice.

Here's my attempt:

I AM IN DEBT BECAUSE...
- Yes I thought the loan was necessary and I was hardly extravagant...but I didn't half enjoy spending it!! :D
- When I took out a loan, my payment plan for repaying the loan consisted of using funds from another loan, and increasing my overdraft! Hahaha, how ridiculous is this now looking back, hahaha! :rotfl: (ooo hindsight...wonderful thing...)
- My budgeting skills were about as good as Gordon Brown's PR skills, lol. See balance, take money out, see balance, take money out.... Im sure my next paycheck wil cover that overdraft...for a few days...er, ok maybe hours, but keeping my account - well ok one of my accouts - in the green for a few minutes means im not in debt right...?
-Money cant buy love...but it sure as hell can buy a whole loada chocolate! :EasterBun

Etc etc, this list is by no means exhaustive cos ive gotta go now, n also cos the real one would b scarily long (n also cos I think Ive rattled on for long enuf already!) Will add others as I think of them n as I manage to ...

Now this wont work for everyone but most people can find at least some inner voice that they didnt listen to. Moaning defeats the object so have a go...it's surprisingly hard but u creative n witty folk never fail to make me laugh wen i read the other forums so see what u can do...

Hey hana5, thats such a great attitude, and so so right.

Its true that positive feelings invoke a positive response, happy thoughts equals happy actions, thanks for making me feel better about, my life, the universe and everything.:A

    Now to answer your question:

    I'm in debt because........

Well I guess the true answer is because I wanted to enjoy myself, I didn't want to be the guy who said no and I used top be a bit of a social animal without the budget to match. I had dreams and aspirations far beyond the depth of my pockets or the magnitude of my overdraft. Plus, tomorrow was always going to take care of the bills, tomorrow was always there and was going to magically make the debts dissapear, luckily for me in the end tomorrow did arrive but was a little short on magic and so DFW had to take over. I've since learnt the following:

    1) The amount of money spent is in no way proportional to the thrill and enjoyment recieved.:D

    2) No is perfectly acceptable in every way and in every possible situation you can think of, plus no does not equal Beerworshipper being a mean or boring so and so!!:D

    3) Last of all, the best things in life are free or very close to free.:D

    Good luck.
 Who knows where thoughts come from - they just appear!
