Call the mortgage service centre details on your yearly statement and in your paperwork it will also give you the fees involved. The branch people have no clue regarding mortgages.
And yes you can do that.
Plus you should always have life cover not just because you go interest only. And it should be at least 2x the size of the mortgage to help with other costs if the main bread winner dies, especially if there are little kids in the family as well. Its nice to get the mortgage paid off but still may have to sell up because they cannot afford the other costs of house ownership.0
