Hi - I was in the same position as you this time last month! This forum has helped loads!
Firstly, I'd make sure you are getting the best fo what you already have. Make sure you're getting good interest rates on any savings, and if you're not using your tax free allowance (ISA) then use it! If you have more savings than is allowed in an isa then check you're getting the best interest rate on your savings account too.
When you're happy about that and want to start making some extra, register with some money making sites! I have found the best to be (in order of best paying) Slice The Pie, OnePoll & Yougov.
There are also other things you can do - sell unwated stuff on eBay or even build up an eBay business! There are also freelance data entry jobs and the like - but I've not had any luck with these yet.
See my sig for the amount I've earned and saved in the last 7 days (when i started these extra money making doo's) - it is a lot more than i originally thought I would!Current STP Earnings - £63.00| OnePoll Earnings - £12.90Debts : £1500 HSBC Credit Card | £350 HSBC Overdraft0 -

No probs for the advice

Forgot to ask : are you a homeowner? my reply was kinda just my experiences but if you're paying council taxes / other home bills / running a car / responsible for shopping - there are loads of things you can save on.
Martin has done some really good articles on grocery shopping and how to avoid spending more than you need to - This alone has brought my family's grocery bill down to £25 per week - that's over 100% reduction!
Also if you have any debts there are loads of ways you can reduce the amount of interest you will be accumulating.
if you need help with anything in particular, ask and I'll give it my best shot. Even if I don't have the answer, someone on here will

Oh, and do keep a diary of how much "extra" you're earning...it boosts your self esteem and gives you that edge to do well
