My dad has one of these phones, theyre very cheap and tacky. Good for if you want a cheap phone, bad for anything else.

Definately not cheap and tacky. Very well made and the best reception and call clarity of any phone I have used.

I use one of these they are very good phones, they are useless at taking pictures, fixing your car, making tea, decorating, doing the can can, but if you use it for making phone calls they work.

Where is the cheapest place for one of these now? Would be ideal for my mother, as anything else is too technical for her.
  • just a quick note on these 'granny in the glove box' phones- which i have learned through making th mistake- any credit will only be valid for X amount of time (presumably different for each network- with the few i've tried it seems to be a year?) so if you are keeping them for an emergency be very careful that you don't end up without an emergency phone.
very sneaky, if you ask me!
    hope that helps someone!
... and whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should ...
  • I purchased one of these from tesco for £14.97 with £10.00 airtime chucked in.

People might call them crap but they out do vodaphone on coverage where I need it.

Plus the tesco ones are locked to tesco network,But with tesco using the 02 network I don't mind, couple this with a £10.00 sim giving you £20.00 credit with the tesco sim you can't really go wrong.
  • Where's this Tesco deal? I just popped into Tesco and they say that the phones are £15 with no free airtime. Do you get the airtime when the supplied sim is activated or something?

I had a voucher upon payment and took this to customer services who activated it.

I'm in my local Tescos tonight so I will have a nose for you.
