When do you replace your washing up bowl?

My washing up bowl is looking very second hand - scratched, stained and the veteran of a lot of washing up.
Part of me says that this cannot possibly be hygenic and think of all the germs in the scratches. But I use a 'antibiotic' washing up liquid (can't remember the correct term) and VERY hot water, and it seems a waste to get another bowl just because you've seen a pretty one in Lakeland
They have black washing up bowls in Matalan - how cool is that?
So, should I stick with my instincts and keep the veteran or should it be retired?

You see, the sensible bit of me says that is how it should be, and you expect a few scars after a battle. But Lakeland have these really nice looking see through bowls... And Matalan have these really cool black bowls...Really, can't justify another one. Sigh.

Actually, I do have a newer one, but I used it to put compost in, and somehow it feels a bit icky to have it back in the house. It is now doing duty as a plant pot holder in the garden - Alan Titchmarsh, eat your heart out.

The one at Matalan is £2...
I've soaked it in biological washing powder before now, which sees off a lot of stains, but I don't use a lot of bleach (okay, I spray Dettox over everything, but it doesn't seem the same) but that will be a good way to go. (No dishwasher

I use the sink too (and the dishwasher about once a week). I find bowls a real pain, so don't use one.0

My mother never used a washing up bowl either. Every time I washed up for her I used to find half a cup of black coffee, or a pan full of veggie water, which I would normally tip down the sink, but couldn't because it would make the water dirty. (:rolleyes:There's always one, and it's always me)
So I use a washing up bowl and I put it on a stand because I am slightly taller than average and if I wash up with the bowl in the sink I get back ache. And if I use a bowl I always remember to empty the slops first :rolleyes:Always another chapter0
