udiggit.com - NO, I DON'T DIG IT!

Options
Gaaah! Bought a digital photoframe from udiggit.com - waited 8 days and no delivery, despite their '3 day' promise. emailed them and, to be (briefly) fair, got a quick reply, apologising as my item 'had been prepared for dispatch but slipped behind a dispatch bench' - hmm.

When it finally arrived, it wasn't the one I'd ordered - wrong colour, but as it was a present for my wife's old man, I wasn't too bothered. It worked and looked OK, so that was the main thing. He's happy, she's happy, so I'm happy.

Today, I get a personal telephone call from an un-named 'sales director'. He wants the frame back. He says it's human error and 'can't be helped' (really? Well I can't helped being p***ed off about it!) , but they have sent mine to someone else, who has complained - we have been sent each other's order apparently. They've sent the other person a replacement, but now want this one back - as it's worth far more than the one I bought.

I explain that it was given to a relative as a (now late) present - he says he can't help that and can't possibly write it off - at no point here does he apologise for the catalogue of errors. I'm getting furious on the phone now - I'm sick of this company already.

He wants to send the returned frame to me and pick up the one that was delivered here. I've told him to ring back, as I need to deal with this with a calmer head.

Two points here: 1) udiggit.com are bl**dy inept
2) Do I have to give this frame back? It's their mistake and it will put me in the bad books to ask my wife to get it off her father - it's now used goods BTW, will they sell it again as new?

As I said: Gaaah!

When did you order the frame? I'd say that given they took much longer than the "3 day promise" to deliver, then you ordered it in plenty of time for your Father in Law's birthday, and because they took so long to send it, you've now given it to him as a gift, and you can't ask for it back! Obviously if they'd sent it in 3 days as promised, there would have been plenty of time to realise it was the wrong item and to get it exchanged for the correct one...

It is 100% their fault, and if they that badly need it back, they should be going out of their way grovelling and offering you various forms of compensation. Perhaps TWO of the original frame and you'll swap??

Personally, I'd stick to my guns and tell them it was a gift, and is no longer in your hands, so impossible to give back, and had they sent it when promised, they would have had plenty of time to rectify their mistake.
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)
