FelineFantastic can you turn the fan off on your oven? might solve the prob.
I've got my last shop of the month coming tonight. I've ordered loads of pasta & ricewhich I will deduct from July's GC budget instead of including it in June's, so I should be under/on target this month. I'll update my total tonight.
Take care everyone:grouphug:

I have a fan oven and if I bake the outside of the bread gets really crusty and inside is still a bit stodgy- is there anyway round this??
Thanks! didn't mean to be pushy
AngelNikki-- sorry missed your post-- no its integral- so has to be fan all the time-- its great for most things just baking is a bit of an issue!June Budget= £151.41/£150:cool:10 NSDs (with teenagers !!)= 8Reduced my overdraft a little today- slow but sure!:A0 -
Hi feline...
No need to appologise..i read every post..but at the moment i have the memory of a flip flop :rotfl:
The first thing i would think of is where do you let it prove/rise once it is in the tin? do you put it somewhere warm to speed it up? only i find when i did that i had the same problem ..doughy middle.. now i leave it on the worktop away from the oven/window with a carrier bag over it (like a tent) and let it rise longer and slower ...you get a better texture and flavour that way too
The only other thing i could suggest is that you put the bread in as you do normally and then once it has crusted over..drop the heat down a little bit so it cooks for longer and slower...
Using milk instead of water also gives a softer crust..
sorry i can't be of more help-6 -8 -3 -1.5 -2.5 -3 -1.5-3.50 -
Hello!
Mrsmcawber hugs for you and your family.
I've utterly failed this month. I'm over by a whopping £103.24  and I've had 2 ciggies today. Though I did quit for a whole day last Thursday.
I am not taking my OH with me to any grocery shops next month. Have gone thru my cash book and the overspends are linked to him being in Asda with me. Why did I even go thru the doors? I've set up my menu planners so I need an Asda delivery once a month, I shouldn't need to go there!. Next time we arrive in the car park I'm not getting out of the car. If he wants something he can darn well buy it himself
I am now a smoke free zone from this moment forth.:o
My Bread and butter pudding tasted like scrambled eggs and sweet bread. I never got round to making the lettuce soup either.
Next months GC for me starts on Saturday and I will be sticking to £150

Have you noticed that products that are being tracked by price tracking websites are becoming part of a price war. Poppets sweets have come down to 14p in Asda. They used to be 28p0
