Hi
Just looking for a bit of advice from anyone in the know
Back in jan after seeking advce from cccs, we started making token payments on our debts as income dictated that we could afford no more. Had the usual array of phonecalls & managed to convey to almost everyone that we were doing the best we could and acknowledging the debt but were unable to afford any more. All loans/cc but 2 were ok about everything, accepted income/exp we sent and agreed to freeze charges etc. We were always (fairly!) polite when they called and re-explained the situation and that when things changed we would be in touch etc etc, sometimes it took quite a time to convey this message!!
Anyway, i digress, for the past couple of weeks I've received daily calls from capital one, sometimes twice a day and after the first couple of times i'm afraid i just stopped answering them. It was just asking for money i didn't have which i explained to them on several occasions. They did say they would ring constantly and certainly kept to their word. I've been ill for the past week so not up to a confrontation but today called to find out what was happening and apparently the account has now defaulted and will be passed on to a dca. I was expecting this to happen sometime soon as we've not been in a position to increase payments (hubbies salary fluctuates tremendously) and i've not been able to obtain any extra guaranteed work to put into a dmp at present. We are in the process of selling my car which will free up car finance to start a dmp but its not sold yet.
Phew, sorry i've gone on a bit but i guess its for my own recollection too! Has anyone experienced dealing with a dca when you are only in a position to offer token payments? what are they likely to do? I don't want to be continually hassled on the phone, but the thought of them coming to my house or trying to contact me through a neighbour scares the life out of me. Up until now i've felt ok about everything but this is a new area for me and heard some horror stories. I'm very cautious of confirming details over the phone as someone has used my identity in the past but will a refusal to do this mean they'll be even more nasty and unaccommodating?
Thanks for any advice

hi there, its a common problem with DCA . But you are right to put phone down on them , these people are trained to get blood out of a stone. Have you received any letters yet? Do not be frightened by the wording , they will contain threats of court action , bailiffs etc. But that is a very very long way off. The first thing to do on receipt of any letters from a DCA, is sent off a CCA and notice of assignment letter . There are guides available to this process . Some of the threads are very long but well worth spending the time to go through them . good luck0
