We can't afford to remove our disgusting carpet to put in a hard floor or another carpet but the condition of the current carpet is beyond embarassing.
Is there anything that can be thrown in the washing machine that I could use as a rug to cover the carpet?
The area that needs to be covered is fairly large 180cm x 250cm.
Many thanks in advance

We have a couple of the 99p Ikea rag rugs called AGGER. I've only got the small ones (60cm x 90cm) but they do a bigger one as well although it may be a runner more than a rug. Perhaps you could have several together or maybe they do something similar in store. The only thing I'd be wary of is the bigger you get, the less liekly they are to fit in the washing machine.
The ones I have aren't supposed to be machine washable but I tried it on a 30 wash and they come out OK.0 -
is the problem with your carpet something that could be improved by hireing a carpet cleaner?
i got a rug at a very cheap price at my local market, its far too big for a wahing machine (think this is a problem you are going to have) but if anything gets on it im quick to get a cloth and carpet mouse on it
only other thing i can honestly think of is a thick fleecy type blanket that can be washed easily and dried quickly just not sure how that would lookDFW nerd club number 039

Hi,
I can recommend a flokati rug which you can have a look for on ebay. Ikea sell them too and so do Dunelm mill. They are reasonably priced and look great and machine washable too. Also Ikea do some small rag rugs for 99p so it would depend what kind of space you need top cover. My Flokati is 120x170 and fits in the washer but maybe a larger one will be a struggle.*BSC member 159*If you can't get rid of the skeleton in your closet, you'd best teach it to dance.....:D

Find yourself a Muslim carpet shop. My rugs are 10'x 8' (and bigger) and machine washable at 40 degrees C. I've had them since 1999 they get washed monthly, much more often if the kids spill something on them. They fit in a standard washing machine. The reason I say a Muslim carpet seller is that they are giant versions of prayer rugs (although without the Mecca finder). Mine came from Saudi Arabia where they are traditionally used but I've also seen them in Bradford.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500

I'd agree with a trip to Ikea. Their cotton rugs are reasonably priced and machine washable. We had onr in the bathroom for ages and it washed beautifully.
I'll move this over to the I Wanna board, where you'll get more replies.
