Credit Card problems

Options
Hi

I'm really struggling to get a credit card, which I desperately want in order to build up my credit score. However, due to past history even my own bank (RBS) have turned me down (I've appealed this but no joy).

The only people I'm getting anywhere with are Capital One, but they now want me to send my passport to them for identity checks - I've tried sending a certified photocopy but they say this isn't good enough. Has anyone else sent theirs off (special delivery of course) and actually received it back? I'm a little reticent to do this!

Thanks

    Hi Lilian :hello: ,

I recently got a Capital One card with a horiffic APR rate, purely so that I can improve my credit rating over the next couple of years. They definitely did not ask me for ID. It sounds like a genuine ID check but seems a bit odd to ask you to send your passport in the post. Are you on the electoral roll? That always helps on your credit report?

    Hi

I am on the electoral roll but because I live in a flat lenders struggle to actually find the record with Experian. When I sent off my details I enclosed my polling card as evidence. I've spoken to them (well, their non-English based call centre anyway) and all they keep saying is that I have to send a document from List A - which I have none of. And I've told them this. So they've said I can send them my passport, but I really don't trust them.

    Argh!

had to send mine to aqua when they let me have a card. sent it special delivery and they returned it within 2 days by the same method. It isn't unusual.

Well I've just called them to arrange to do this and they've said the application has been cancelled as it's been 21 days since the letter asking me to do it.

The letter was dated 14th May! I've tried to point this out but they keep just saying the same thing - it's been cancelled because it's been 21 days.

I think I'm going to try and manage without - they seem completely useless...
