Other major concern is that our garden is a complete jungle at the moment but my parents are willing to come and help, and hopefully hubbies parents will also be able to do a bit. We have loads of plants and bark lying around so we shouldn't have to spend any money getting it looking nice.

Just hope it doesn't take too long!!!

My hours have been reduced in the last few months, but they seem to be getting back to a full time position, so that should give us a bit extra.

See things are looking up already regarding the help with the garden and hopefully the extra hours at work to give a bit of extra cash :T

The online debt remedy thing on CCCS is really good. You could do that and then see what it comes up with then give CCCS a call based on the advise they give to you (the initial online stuff is all anonymous and you don't have to take their advice). Am sure you'd feel better having spoken to a debt charity.

Any chance of either of you taking an extra job to earn some extra money? Definitely get some stuff on ebay if you have anything to sell, I spent half of yesterday sticking some old things on there and have already had some bids :j
Money doesn't make you happy so I'm skint but cheerful

I am constantly looking for extra ways to up my income and job hunting, so hopefully something will work out there.

Something I forgot to ask - I am looking at claiming for mis-sold PPI on the secured loan. Would I still be able to do this if the secured loan was paid back? or would I be better off trying to claim that back before selling?

    Hi and a big welcome...

lots of great advice already, CCCS have helped many on here to tackle their debts so I'd give them a ring for some professional and free advice.

It's easy to give in to that negative voice that chants "cant do it" BUT we lift each other up.
We dont count all the runners ahead of us & feel intimidated.
Instead we look back proudly at our journey, our personal struggle & determination & remember that there are those that never even attempt to reach the starting line.

I think there's an article (or might be a thread) on this site regarding claiming back PPI on loans, sure someone will have the link to it

Have you considered having a water meter fitted? I had one fitted for free from my local water board and my water bills have reduced from £32 per month to £12 per month and set to reduce further. Ok, I live on my own and am out at work all day but I am certainly more aware of the water I use. I make sure I load the washing machine up once a week and only do 1 wash per week, don't leave taps running unnecessarily and don't flush the loo after every wee (sounds disgusting, I know, but it's only me living here). Small changes can make a difference. Even when I clean my teeth, I make sure I don't leave the tap running and have quick showers. When my ex OH lived with me, he preferred baths so we would just use the same water and top it up a bit. Might only be a small monthly saving but it does help. I've saved £20 per month so far.

    Welcome by the way.

On the sky front, don't forget if you have a good computer you can download a lot of TV via BBC iplayer etc. And there are file sharing networks as well ....
  • I wouldnt solely rely on seling your house. Please still phone cccs (or other free debt charitys). Sorry to say but it could take months to sell you home, in that space of time anything could happen.

Why oh why, didn't want to read and run so here goes...don't wait to sell your house...it could take ages. You must get the wheels in motion to sort this. You've taken the big step of posting here for advice.

You've had some great advice re contacting a debt charity.

Please get rid of SKY - SKY, AOL and telephone are costing you a fortune - you can't afford to keep SKY....sorry :(
