start of my SOA

Options
Right you'll have to bear with me, I'm going to be coming back and forth to this over the next few days as my stuff from Experian is starting to come in.

First two debts:

First Credit (scumbags!) - £1745.08 (Morgan Stanley Card)
ScotCall - £2894.76 (MBNA loan)

First Credit will of a discount if I can pay £1300 (haha) or want £250 initial payment and £150 installements. The girl I spoke to was a complete b*tch.

Scotcall were very friendly, very very nice (some kind of ploy maybe??) and are happy to take a minimum of £50pm.

I am due to get my payslip in a bit so I can work out my incomings xx

Just want to say welcome to the board, as soon as you list your incomings and other debts, you will get some very good advice.

    Hi and welcome,
I would wait until you have all your debt info and work out a pro rata payment for each creditor before getting in touch with any of them.

It could be harder to renegociate with them if you realise you have offered more than you can afford. You could also contact one of the debt charities, CCCS or Payplan and let them do the negociating on your behalf.

Other than that good luck and you are in the right place for help and support.

Debt at highest May 04 - £65,639.22 - Started DMP with CCCS 1st June 04 & now self managed DMP
Debt now 20th December 2015 £31677.13 Paid Off to date £33962.09 - just not going quickly enough!

Debt free date July 2024! I don't think so, it'll be going quicker than that!!!

    Some questions...

TV Licence - you both pay £12? Should it be £6 each?
    Elec/Gas - 20+15=35 x 2 = £70... could get this cheaper.
Groceries - £140 x 2 = £280 - This is VERY high (I assume for you and your partner). I think this could easily be halved with some ideas. Cooking bigger meals, eating part and freezing part, looking at your shopping receipts and asking yourselves whether it is a luxury or not, that kind of thing.

Looks like some instant savings can be made!
Inspiration is all you need to become debt free!

Hi and welcome. I definitely agree with how expensive the food bill is, you could easily reduce that my buying shops own label stuff and taking advantage of offers.

Also, have you thought about doing things like ebay, mystery shopping and surveys, these can all earn you a bit more. Also use quidco when renewing policies and for when switching gas and electricity, as you may be able to get these cheaper.

  • sorry - licence is £6 each

Gas and leccy are both on meters and were changed from BG to Scottish Power about a month ago so I dont think I can get it any cheaper than it is?

yep, agree about the food bill as well. that can most certainly come down.

My car insurance is due for renewal in June and the payments are coming down to £21pm :money:

I did have a bar job and paper round up until two weeks ago but my hours at work have changed so I am no longer able to do them which is a !!!!!! cos it was almost £300 extra a month. However I due a payrise in August:rotfl:

Am also doing mystery shopping. i have my first one tomorrow with grassroots.

I havent told First Credit that I can pay them the £150 pm. I should hopefully have the rest of my credit report this week, so I can post the rest of my debts. Then it will be a phone call to CCCS I think.

I've spoken to my boyf about it and he has been fantastic about it :o

I just want to thank everyone who has given me words of wisdom. I am very humbled and since I found this site, I can honestly say I sleep so much better at night :-)
