DONT get stuck in the megapixels race please
more megapixels does NOT equal better pictures
the lens on this camera is crap and probably would have trouble resolving 3 megapixels, let alone 6 that its claimingmoney saving my @rse.
I've spent 10x as much as I would if I had never discovered this website :-)

It uses a Samsung lens. I'm not sure how good or bad Samsung lens' are though.0

Bleugh makes a very good point. There have been 12 megapixel cams selling on eBay for £50. They are utter crap. It's not just the megapixels, it's how they're compressed/filtered/captured/stored. There is a whole world of difference in different CCD's used in cameras too. Don't just buy a camera because it has lots of megapixels and is cheap!0

I would have to agree. Buying a digital camera has so many factors to take into account. But more doesnt mean better.
Its like cars, a 2 litre Honda will perform somewhat different to a 2 litre Daewoo.
You can often get 4 million pixel cameras around £100 when they are on the Quick Grabbit section.
There are 3 types of companies selling digital cameras
1) Big Computer companies with digital expertise.. i,e HP, Sony, Panasonic & Casio.
2) Traditional Camera companies with expertise in photos and lenses (but with less digital knowledge) i.e, Canon, Nikon & Olympus.
3) Small electronics companies with little expertise in either, i.e. lumicron.
Go for the cameras merits.... but pick either a 1 or 2.
Use https://www.steves-digicams.com as a decent source of reviews for all quality cameras.
Also, worth remembering that Fuji will state double the true number of pixels due their unique honeycomb pixellation method. So a 6 million pixel Fuji is really a 3million pixel camera.
You need to look at pro's and cons.
Power:
Is the camera normal battery operated or rechargeable? Lithium ? or just AA ?
Rechargeable will save you money, and will last a lot longer between charges, but AA will allow you to switch if you run out of power when you still want more photos.
Size:
A really small camera makes it easy to carry around, and means that you will be more likely to get more use out of it rather than opting to leave it at home. But on the downside, buttons may be smaller, it may be harder to hold and the LCD screen will also be smaller.
Optical Zoom:
You NEED an optical zoom. A digital zoom is just doing the work that your computer could do at home, but to a poorer standard. You are better off taking the photo without the digital zoom, then just cropping it at home.
Photo speed:
Digital cameras can take up to 20 seconds to boot up, which means you will miss any quick opportunities at a decent shot unless the camera is on already. Some cameras will just take a few seconds. Also, certain cameras can take around 10 seconds to let you take a shot after the last, where as good cameras take a couple.
This may be fine if you are just taking posed photos, but if you want to take shots of animals, or your kids playing.. you dont have much hope.
You get the driftBe nice0 -
I've been advised that 5 mega pixels is as realistically as high as you'll ever need to go - certainly long into the foreseeable future anyway.
I suppose it makes sense that there's a limit to how deep a definition the eye can take in and going above that doesn't improve image quality at all.0
