Best vacuum for laminate floors

The whole of my house is laminate flooring downstairs, and in the bedrooms.
Currently we have 2 Dyson uprights (one for upstairs and one for down as too heavy to carry around!).
Wanted to get a new vacuum, preferable a cylinder rather than upright as they are so heavy.
Can anyone recommend a good vacuum for laminate flooring ? Not bothered what the pick up is like on carpets as dont actually have any
Thanks

hello there this is my first post!!! all of my downstairs is laminate we've just changed from a dyson upright to a dyson cylinder its a '20' it think with the allergy filter thing. its really good on our floors much better than using a broom!!!0

I too have just bought a Dyson cyliner, the DC20 animal.
I have all laminated except for one room which is carpeted, it is an excellent vacuum and is great on hard floors. Currys, amazon jlewis are doing it for 199, normally 299.
argos are doing the DC20 origin for 159, which i think is mainly for hard floors as it does not come with a turbine brushhead0 -
We have nearly all laminate/tiles and use a Henry, I love it.0

Sebo X4 Extra upright vacuum

Can be found for around the £200 mark. Had ours for nearly 5 years (or it could be longer)0 -
We have 2 Miele's, with a mix of laminate and carpet, and a couple of dogs, and been really happy with them. Also just got a dyson handheld zap gun thing which works really well for picking up dog hairs and quick sweeps on laminate floors.
If you can go to somewhere like john lewis with a bag full of what you've just sucked off your floor they'll let you try them all out. (well, not sure if they'll let you throw a bag of your dirt around, but you can plug them in and have a go...)
Andy
edit:
One of the miele's is s4211 - fairly small to carry around and powerful and £140 or less... they also do HEPA filtered ones if you want that.0 -
Only just had the chance to get back online and check the posts, so thats for the replies. Will do a bit of research now on the suggested hoovers and see what the prices come up like.
Thanks
