Expat with 35k please help!

My sister returned to UK from Canada after 25 years, afraid for her old age and financial security

She is 50years old, single, has 35k in her pocket, but no home or job

She could buy a little mobile home and work 9-5 like me, but I think she could do more.

Can that 35k be put to better use? Has anyone heard of a TV life coach that might be interested in her case?

all ideas welcome!

Personally, no I don't, but without wishing to sound too negative - is a "TV life coach" [don't get me going!!] really a realistic option?
Your sister will have gained life experience, career/work experience and possibly qualifications during her 50yrs on earth. Wouldn't her best first move be to concentrate on what those translate into in terms of what employment she can get in the UK? That, at least, would make her self-sufficient and mean her £35K need not dwindle simply to keep herself.
She has potentially 15yrs or more to improve her circumstances, get better employment, gain further qualifications, provide "a pension" for her old age and so on but it is far easier to start that journey if she is earning a living.
There isn't enough info in your post to be more specific but BoL to her.

Thats not too bad a position. Obviously by her coming back to UK the exchange rates are against her, the £35k in Canada is worth a lot more than here. However I personally would find some long term investment funds and diversify and split the investments into things like ISAs, 5 year investment funds, 10 year investment funds and general savings accounts. All will help as it will generate her income but will give her access to the funds if and when she needs them.

Get her to focus on finding a good stable career, she can still build a reasonable pension with a long term 10-15 year career. Other than that, get her to live within her means and enjoy life! She is by no means in a bad situation.
