aggghhh only 1 mth into dmp with cccs and its all going wrong...help....

hi all only started my dmp with cccs on the 1st may but it has already started to go wrong.

dh got a really awful wage this month £1300 rather than the £1500- £1700 he normally gets due to bank holidays  agghh. cccs budget he gets £1800 as he gets paid 4 weekly ( really hate them doing this as it confuses my budget as budget sets it at £1800 but sometimes its less? )

I miss calculated dd childcare costs from £150.00 to £209.00 per month. she gets the grant (2 1/2 session free thingy!)but due to the fact she goes private nursery ( to fit in with work) she only gets a percentage off her childcare and i didnt realise she would get nothing through the school holidays (her nursery being private runs throughout year).
on the upside i have spoken to the nursey and they have arranged for me to pay £209 pcm all year so it never goes up or down making it a fixed cost now ( no nasty suprises!)

and while stressing over the budget i have realised cccs (online plan)have my wage wrong! they have it set at £250 when it is £200 (sometimes get a bit more but cccs advised me to have it at £200 incase its lower some months).
before anyone points out the obvious that my childcare costs are £9 more that i earn the job i do includes training so hopefully my wages will increase as i become more qualified and when my dd goes full time school my hours will increase so my wages will increase!:D

i spoke to cccs on friday and the girl wasn't very helpful to be honest! said we would have to at least cover £250.00 (dmp is £453.00) to cover our payment to drydens on behalf of egg as they have issued a ccj to us (this is currently going through the redetermination process as they wanted more than our dmp money pcm!)

i really dont know what to do as we havent eve got enough money to cover all the budget let alone the dmp money. i am terrified that drydens will repo us or something?

can anyone suggest anything? any help muchly appreciated as i just feel giving up as we had been doing so well managed to clear quite a lot before our dmp got up and running and now i just feel like :wall:

Hi, I don't know much about the workings of a DMP etc as I am not on one, but I would suggest giving CCCS another call tomorrow and see if they can come up with anything more useful.

Sorry, that wasn't much was it? Just didn't want to "read and run"!!

    Hi,

sorry not an expert in these matters but I would definitely get in touch with cccs & explain that their calculations are not a true representation of your actual income. I would have thought they would calculate using your lowest possible income rather than the highest ?

Well done on sorting out the nursery fees, it's great when you know exactly how much you have to pay out each month, helps with budgeting :D
    Good luck

    Hi there

Are you a member of the DMP Mutual Support Thread - i don't remember seeing you there? If not, hop across to that thread and ask for help. Everyone there is doing a DMP either with CCCS or Payplan (and some people are doing their own) but someone will have been in your situation and should be able to help. x

    Hi there pinklaydez

We are on a DMP but with PayPlan and the minute that I knew that our wages were not going to cover the payment back in December I called them. They were happy for me to miss out December and wrote to the creditors accordingly citing that as my Husband was out of work and was not getting paid until the end of January.

If you haven't got the money you can't pay the debts. But you can arrange something with CCCS and they should have been much more supportive that they have been, they have not helped matters there.

We are with PayPlan and they have been fantastic and supportive which CCCS must be with their clients.

I also appreciate that you are in your first month of the arrangement and you really cannot help what has happened. Ring them and tell them that you need to go over the figures again but make sure you work it out before you call them so you know what you are going to say !

Remember, the companies we all owe money to would much rather have payment of some sort than nothing at all and as long as you are honest and show that you can make a payment of whatever this month then you will be fine. PROMISE ! ! !

  • hello all,

firstly a BIG thank you for all your very helpful advice and much needed support.:A

After a very restless night i called cccs this morning and they couldn't have been more helpful.
Firstly they went back through my budget with me and agreed on the following points:
my wages were down wrong on the budget:D

That working out dh wages on four weekly basis was very confusing to budget and would revert back to monthly and the 13th month payment we can use as a buffer or pay a lump sum off when it comes round.:D

that my whole budget was completely unrealistic and we would start again as a few blls have gone up in april anyway due to budget and petrol had also gone up quite significantly too!

Redone whole budget to a much more realistic scale based on a worse case senario wage, any extra we get we will obviously make futher payment to debt.
new budget £250ish a LOT less than the £450ish but MUCH more realistic!:j
also cccs helped me with Drydens ccj etc, saying not to worry as we havent had our redetermination hearing yet so nothing is set in stone. We will just have to take this new budget and tell them they are not going to be getting the original proposed figure as we just do not have it.

so feeling on top of the world right now! feel much more in control and i know exactly what money we have etc. so i am now gonna go make some positive steps to clear my debt off a bit quicker!ebay here i come!
  • Well done you! :T
