HEELLPPP Kitchen disaster

Does anyone have any idea howI can get a scorch mark off a kitchen worktop? I really don't want to use any nasty chemicals as my 3 yr old has a habit of touching stuff and then putting his hands in his mouth
Any ideas would be great.

What kind of surface is it?
If scorched, the only thing would be to sand it off (no chemical can "unburn") so hopefully it is a wooden worktop!

  • Hi Sahara.

Is your worktop a laminate? If so you may be able to at least lessen the mark by gently rubbing the scorch mark with a soft cloth and toothpaste, as the latter is mildly abrasive. Otherwise, I think you'll be struggling.

  • If it's a formica type one then it's irremovable I'm afraid, however if you accidental cover as part of your insurance you may well be able to claim for a new piece of work top.

  • whatever type it is, try toothpaste especially the whitening one, as apparently it removes all sorts without resorting to aggressive techniques!
