When I was a kid my mum used to buy this tinned cream stuff that you had to shake in the tin to make it thick before serving. My sister always called it "dollop cream" and now none of us can remember what it was called!!
Does anyone know the actual name of this stuff and where to get it?! I thought it was tip top but my mum is adamant that it's not that!
Any ideas greatly appreciated because it's driving us mad!!
Thanks in advance

Oh my! We were just talking about this t'other day!! Is this the one?"...I, being poor, have only my dreams;
I have spread my dreams under your feet;
Tread softly because you tread on my dreams."

Was it Fussells? If it isn't, I stillI know what you mean - my Grandma used to have it - we called it 'blob' cream!!
Taken from the Nestle website - sorry don't know how to do a link but says:
"CARNATION LIGHT CONDENSED MILK
For all you loyal Fussell’s fans, you are probably wondering what has happened to it. Well, it has simply taken on a fresh new look and is now called Carnation Light Condensed Milk. The recipe has not changed at all, so it is just as tasty as it always has been. And, because it is made with skimmed milk, you can afford to treat yourself, friends and family with delicious but lighter desserts and sweet treats"Don't put it down, put it away - thanks Valli

In Home Bargains yesterday I picked up a tin of Nestles Caranation extra thick cream. The tin looks different to the one shown in the pic, but I'm pretty sure its the same thing.I also remember the words of my friends, but I would rather have enemies than friends like you

I was reminiscing about this myself the other day, Tip Top was invented in the 80's I think, we were 60's kids so our cream was Nestles in a blue and white tin. We didn't have fresh cream because we didn't have fridges and freezers. It tasted great on tinned fruit salad, it's a wonder we haven't all got scurvey LOL.0

is it steralised cream - you have to shake that, as it tends to seperate in the tin
funnily enough, i was trying to find this in the shops the other day, and could only find tiptop, which i think is the same as evaporated milk, which is too runny. much prefer the steralised dollop sort

It is definitely sterilised cream - I get it in Sainsburys - it is really thick and has a sort of strange, not unpleasant taste, which I like. It is now sold as Carnation as Nestles have now taken over Fussel's. I used to make my Mum buy it when I was young because they always had it in Enid Blyton books!Jane

Yep, sterilised cream it is, definitely!! I remember it very well. Came in a wee half sized tin, blue and white. Can't remember the makers though. We used to have it with tinned peaches, my goodness it was spectacular.Grocery Challenge M: £450/£425.08 A: £400/£:eek:.May -£400/£361 June £380/£230 (pages 18 & 27 explain)0
