PPI and unfair dismissal
Options
Can anyone advise if it is right for an insurance compay to refuse to pay out on PPI if the dismissal was unfair.
Halifax insurance are saying that they will not pay out on PPI if I lost my job within the first 60 days of taking out the loan. I was dismissed about 35 days after taking out my loan. I want to make it painfuly obvious I was NOT aware my employment was coming to an end. I wasn't even given 5 minutes notics. However I have been to an Employment Tribunal and it has been found my dismissal was unfair.
Thank you for your help in this matter.

this is a feature in a lot of Mortgage PP1 which I have only recently become aware of. That said, I do not offer this cover to my clients as I feel the best way to cover redundancy is having savings.
Anyway, usually this cover for unemployment is for situations where you get made redundant and its involuntary. Unfair dismissal would not normally be covered - especially when its just on word of mouth. They may have to look at it if it was proven in a tribunal but thats a different kettle of fish altogether.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it. The 60 days on unemployment is a standard exclusion clause and as you say it is to cover situations where the employee knows they are to lose their job.
In your case this does not apply but nevertheless the policy still has this exclusion.
Of course, if your health is now suffering there is nothing to stop you making a claim under the sickness cover??0 -
Thanks Standupguy.
I will think about that one.0
