Tesco points query

Hiya dont know if this is the right place but with people being tesco points experts i just wanted to know summat.

We have a tesco credit card and spend about 1K a month on it, when we use it in tesco what points should we get as its a clubcard too, i dont think we are getting enough points, should we give the credit card to SA first to swipe before the shopping or do the points just go on automatic from shopping when we just put credit card in paying machine at the end.

thanks in advance for replies

    Hi

If it a newish cc then you will get 5 points per 4 pounds spent in Tesco and 1 point per 4 pounds spent everywhere else. This incudes clubcard points so really you only get 1 extra point for paying with it in Tesco compared to using a clubcard.

I am always dissapointed with the extra that the cc gives, I get about 500 extra clubcard points each quarter for using the cc which equates to £5 whereas when I used my M&S card for everything I would get about £20 of vouchers per quarter. Still, I would rather have the points for deals.

If you look at you receipt it will show the clubcard points separately and the cc (TPF) points further down. You don't have to scan it twice, the till recognises its a Tesco card.

  • I always scan my normal clubcard at the start of the transaction, they give me the usual clubcard points on that, and I've been getting loads of extra vouchers etc which all go on my normal clubcard.

I've not seen any extra points for my cc yet, but I think they're only transferred quarterly? I'm hoping that because I've swiped my usual clubcard for the normal points, tesco will notice that I've been using my credit card to pay therefore give me 5 points per £4. If they don't, and I still get 1 point per £4 then I'm no worse off as it's still 1% cashback, effectively, with the deals...

Hope this helps... I just wish tesco would clarify this, but then if they did, they'd have to give out either no points/incentive for using the credit card, or loads of points for beating the system (1 point per £1 usual shop, 5 points per £4 with the credit card, therefore on a £32 shop, we'd get 72 points (or £2.88 of deals)...

We have one of the older credit cards and get 1 pt per 2 pound spent any where (newer ones get 1 pt per 4 pounds)

If you spend in Tescos you also get your normal pt per pound that you would get with an ordinary clubcard.

Whichever card they swipe first gets the normal points, be it a CC or normal clubcard, CC points are added if you use that to pay with.

I get a break down on my receipt telling me how many of each kind of points I have for the quarter.
