The Swallow Imperial in Jesmond (short walk or metro ride from the shops in the City Centre) have rooms on Laterooms.com for 45 pound room only (it did have a fire earlier on in the year so maybe this is why the price is so cheap!). Its close to the Metro for the City and for the Airport. I work in a four star hotel in the City and we're charging over 120 for that night so 45.00 midweek in a three star is pretty good. You could look at the Travel Inns which are about fifty-seventy pounds per room depending on which part of Newcastle you stay (the one at the airport will be cheaper I think than the city but at least you know what you're getting!)Debt free 2018

Hi
There is a premier travel inn on the site of the airport c.£55 a night I think but I know they have cheaper depending on what night you need. There is a metro station actually at the airport which you could use to take you straight into town for both the university and shops (you get off at the same stop for both I think) The metro journey is approx 20 minutes and I think it's c£3.00 for a return metro ticket.
There is also a B&B 5 mins walk from the airport called Stone cottage, I don't know much about it but you can look it up on the internet - I pass it now and again and looks lovely from the outsideMFW Start Date 1.4.08. Updated 23.1.18. MFW date 1.8.18

The Swallow hotel in Jesmond had a fire recently - and is being repaired - hence the good prices. Imagine facilities will be a little basic while repairs taking place...though for the price and location, I'd probably go for it. They're near the metro, and you could walk into town if you preferred; also near the bars etc. in Jesmond.0

Plenty of places just ask the taxi driver to take you to one. Just had a good w/e there and stayed in Ravensdene Lodge -friendly, as I found all the people there.0

do what swmbo and I usually do.....Travelodge...cheap and cheerful especially if you can get one of the cheap £29 rooms....own bathroom....nothing fancy....
Daughter has been at Northumbria this year doing her GDL (law conversion) previous 3 years she was at Newcastle doing her BSc...so we've spent lots of time in Newcastle.
Travelodge ( Newcastle Central) is really handy, its just at the back of the Law Courts, and for those that don't know...they sit on the Quayside. If shes thinking of halls, Knoll Court and Garth Heads are just 50 yds up the road from the Travelodge as well...good to know if you are going over to visit.
On the one occasion, when she was at Newcastle, we couldn't get to the Quayside...so we stayed at Gateshead , metro Centre...and our daughter joined us and we had some retail therapy for her in the Metro Centre...so did SWMBO!
If she intends not spending her first year in halls, Jesmond is only a short metro ride away, but she'd need to start looking for accomodation in July.
Northmbria has (last year) just opened its new facilities, School of Law and Business School....the buildings are fantastic and the Uni is rated quite highly nowadays.
I'm not from Newcastle, but over the past 4 years my wife and I have had many a great stay there, in fact, I sometimes think our daughter was just an excuse for us to visit!.
If she chooses Northumbria, I'm sure she'll enjoy her time in Newcastle...our daughter has another year to do to finish her post grad work,( LPC ) and she hopes to live in the North East...so I imagine we'll be flying over there for many years to come....
need any more info...just PM me....have a good timeI'm now a retired teacher... hooray ...:j
Those who can do, those who can't, come to me for lessons:cool:0
