should a tent be flame proof...?

are tents usually flame proof? as i need to buy one for camping. thanks

    i think you will find that most tents have some kind of fire retardant qualities. That said, it would be foolhardy to use any kind of naked flame in close proximity to any type of material.
    Never put off till tomorrow what you can do today!:mad:
    Cos if you do it today and like it...You can do it again tomorrow.. :p

    I would be surprised if the tent has no fire retardant quality at all!

    what tent have you bought? had a look at Tesco website and all the tents on there are fire retardant!

    There is a difference between "fire retardent" and "fire proof".

    I think the new ones are getting better and better quite fire proof,i know someone who last summer set fire to one and it didnt burn what so ever, its a safety thing, with the bbq's and all. Im sure when you buy one it will say how retardent is. Im sure laws now will state they have to be...
    Whcih one you going for anyway just picked myself up a lovely one
