Suncamp, Relum, Outwell, Cabanon, Gelert to name but a few, but go over to here and register and you'll get all the help you need from some wonderful people who are really experienced in camping and will help you so much with all the questions you have. There are sections for each part of camping ie. tenting, trailer tents, folding campers as well as caravans, so make sure you go to the right place, though they'll soon direct you to where you should be - in a nice and friendly way too. As with MSE, there's no such thing as a stupid question either and you need to know whether you want a cotton frame tent or nylon, possibly with a sewn in groundsheet or not.
All the best as it's a great and very reasonable way to get a holiday nowadays.

It's cheap and cheerful stuff, i know alot of people who have used this site for basic camping gear and i've heard of no complaints. For occasional use, or disposable use for festivals this site is spot on. I rarely camp so really don't want to spend shed loads on equipment and will certainy be using this site or similar as and when our current tent dies. As for the mark up- what difference does it really make what price it should have been? It's all going to come down to if it's really worth what they're currently selling it for. Brand names don't always mean quality or reliability, cheap doesn't always mean dodgy. As with anything though- always pays to shop around and speak to people for personal recommendations, that's how i first heard about cybercheckout and like i say, have never heard of complaints through those i know who've used it.0

Argos are also selling a 6 man Pro Action tent reduced to £39.99
It is only for the bank holiday weekend though. Any experienced campers had any ProAction tents?0 -
No knowledge of them personally streety, but they do often sell tents and you can take it back to them more easily if it's proved to be not so good. Put the name into review co uk and see what comes up there, you could also put the name into google and see what's said and where. One thing to be aware with any type on nylon tent, if it's full to the said capacity (6 person tent etc) is the condensation after waking, you need to let them air out thoroughly, especially before packing up.
Try putting "tents" into google, as Val says there are plenty of bargains to be had at this time of year.

Some Pro-Action tents are okay...not as good as the big name stuff, but perfectly adequate for a starter tent and will get you through a season in a reasonable degree of comfort, which is as much as anyone can ask of a cheap tent. However the one above is one of the less good Pro-Action ones. It only has a HH of 1200 (HH is the degree of water resistance of a tent) and the baseline minimum for the UK is 1500 normally, with 2,000 and 3,000 HH being the common measurements for decent quality tents.Val.0 -
In cidentally Ebay is a good source of tents. Not for the bargain basement unknowns, but for discontinued brand name tents being sold off by the big name tent dealers to clear their warehouses. I've picked up three Vangos over the years at less than 1/3 price this way, all from camping warehouses that are well known and reputable.
But tent choice and quality are big subjects with a lot of variables and as has been said, if you want a tent suitable for your needs and budget, come across to UKCS and discuss it. We're well used to the "New camper, six kids, two dogs and a parrot, small budget, seeks tent for fun family holiday" type of thread!Val.0 -
I havent been on UKCS for ages but just about to step back in. A really good friendly site. Pretty much the same as MSE but for all camping/caravanning needs/questions etc.:jMay 2013 new beginnings:j0

For good quality tents at discount prices try http://www.mountainwarehouse.com They have stores in outlet shopping centres too. If like the Lakeside outlet in Doncaster, they do v.i.p loyalty cards for shoppers, you can then save yourself an extra 10%.0

I have always used Eurohike in the past and I have been pleased with the results, the hydrostatic is 2000 on them compared toVangos 3000+ range but I have had good results from them.
