fair enough but future employers usually ask for references from your last two places of employment and ask the referees what their relationship is to you. friends are usually disqaulified.
if you keep the money will we see you posting on here in 6 months "my ex employer are demanding their money back but i've spent it , what can i do"?0 -
They'll soon realise.
My OH got over paid at one of his jobs, despite me telling him to ring them and not spend it, he didn't listen to me. We both forgot about it and in the process moved house, they obviously didn't have our new address.
About 9mths later of living in our new house and OH applied for some credit, got told a CCJ was on his file. After digging around to find out what and who it was, yep, the old employer had been in contact with sending letters to our old address and obviously it looked like my OH just ignored them, now he's paying back £10 a mth and can't get the CCJ off his credit file.Mummy to two girls: October 2013 and February 20160 -
I recently recieved a generic e mail at work from my union/association on this matter. From what I recal, the general rule of thumb is that the employer is entitled to recover this.I believe one of our employees took this through the court and lost.0

Secretmachines, I think if it's a mistake on your ex employers part you should repay it.
To deliberately keep money which you know isn't yours and when you know who's money it is, is just wrong.

you see, it pays to lead an honest and morally decent life!
I spoke to my previous employer about the situation and about getting my P45 sorted, and they said they wanted to pay me for the full month of May as I probably had outstanding holiday time over my 7 years there, and that they felt it was only right to pay me for the full month
