ideas please for overseas wedding?

Options
I know this is in the wrong place but I posted twice in the weddings board and not fou0nd the answer yet.

Can anyone help? We have been invited to a family wedding of a couple that live abroad, they have a baby (so not sure if they will have the opportunity to enjoy a romantic present). We haven't got the £5k at hand to pay for a 2 week stay for all 4 of us to go so I wonder if anyone can come up with an idea for a nice, light, easy to post present. I sent cash when they got engaged but never really got a thank you which I wasn't happy about. Also due to exchange rate, value of money there is less (euro)

Any ideas would be most welcomed! Thank you in advance :)

Had to send a present overseas recently and struggled to find anywhere that would deliver due to custom issues so bought vouchers accepted at lots of places - perhaps look for vouchers that you can buy for a general shop/ chain overseas or send an international cheque (costs £20 at a bank though) - i hate buying things for the sake of it so at least the bride and groom can choose something they want...

or you could buy them a box of thank you cards ....

    That's a tricky one.
Are the couple likely to come and visit the UK, if so, could you do them an IOU for a meal/night out or, possibly an IOU for some babysitting

I wish I could get a cheaper deal, its in Cyprus (south) and in all the years we've been going, never found a cheap deal, there are 4 of us, dog to go in kennels, airport parking, exchange rate, car hire, food, presents for family etc etc. If i could go on the cheap, I would!

I think you are right not to go, even at half the cost it is an expensive holiday.

How much money have you in mind to spend on a gift. I think after not being thanked for the first gift I wouldn't be inclined to go overboard!

You could go and have a wander round TKMAXX, they have some really nice kitchen or just house bits for reasonable prices. You could then pack it up and send it off!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I regulary send parcels to my sister in Holland, it is classed as a small package if you stay under 2kg and the length, width and hight of the parcel adds up to less than 90cm. To post that would be about £10 (less the lighter the parcel is) I too have sent to relatives abroad and not got as much as a "it has arrived safely, thanks" email or anything, so I agree, I wouldn't go overboard on the gift. A nice linen tablecloth and matching napkins? A photoalbum, wedding or otherwise? I will keep thinking.. How about a digital photoframe? I know the sockets would be different there but could you order it online and make sure you get the one that would fit there?
