Readers could find themselves celebrating the summer solstice, Scandinavian style, at Legoland Windsor's Viking Midsummer Fest.

On the weekend of June 21 and 22 the park will yet again be subject to a Viking invasion to mark the longest day of year.

The event, sponsored by VisitDenmark, will involve a weekend of activities including exciting re-enactments of Viking battles, realistic encampments so guests can get an insight into the lives of Viking warriors, and a side-splitting family entertainment show in the park's circus tent entitled Boris and Olaf's Excellent Adventure.

There'll also be a treasure trail around the park where one lucky family can win the prize of a trip to Denmark.

The highlight of the weekend will take place on Saturday night at 7pm when families can gather around the Adventure Land lake to watch a magnificent midsummer bonfire accompanied by a performance from Danish singing sensation Camille Jones.

As a special treat Legoland will stay open until 9pm that evening, giving families even more time to experience some of the park's most popular rides and attractions.

The Midsummer Fest marks the beginning of another incredible Viking-themed summer at Legoland Windsor. New for 2008, guests can explore the brand new Land of the Vikings, featuring the park's biggest and wettest ride to date, the Vikings' River Splash.

Another exciting addition is the Longboat Invader that defies guests to test their sea worthiness as they sway back and forth on a Viking Longboat that sits on a U-shaped track and rotates in two directions.

Legoland Windsor offers one of the best family days out in the UK and was voted Best UK Attraction for Children. With so much to see and do, one day is never enough and the best way to visit again and again is with an annual pass, which works out cheaper than visiting twice. Legoland annual passes represent real value for money and prices start from just £36.

Families can also take advantage of the new Merlin Pass, priced at £125 per person, and offering 12 months unlimited access to all UK Merlin Entertainments Group attractions including the London Eye, Alton Towers and Madame Tussauds.
