Hi, decided to shop the smart price way this week, brought large chicken, large mince[ not value though as found that very fatty] everything else I brought smart price except my fruit tea bags. My normal shop is usually around £100.00 a week including my husbands special diet, this week I spent £52.00 I was really pleased with myself, no one has noticed any difference this week.

  • One thing that I have found has helped is instead of doing a meal plan and then writing down what I need for the shopping list, is to see what I have already got in the cupboards/fridge and freezer and try to make at least one or two meals from ingredients I already have.

hope that doesn't sound too convoluted! Basically, try to use up what is in the cupboard!

meal plan, dont be afraid to try some of the cheaper ranges, i now regulary look for woopsie items in asda, ive also starting using a 'dried' bolognase mix thing once a week with pasta and having an on toast night to keep my shopping bill down, ive also cut back on carton juice, dreaded fruit shoots for my boys and buying the high jucie squash as a small amount in there beaker go's along way. i also bulk meals out with lots of veg, chooped potatoes in casseoles etc i then find i can use less meat

my washing liquid i cannot try anything else so thats sadly something that bothers me (my boys have very bad eczema and the only one thats ok recently with there skin is waitrose sensitive, we even tried soap nuts but they just didnt get my boys clothes clean )

ive gone back to only using star drops (65ish p) for all my cleaning bleach only if needed and smart price washing up liquid, i must also be honest and say recently getting heathy start vouchers have helped alot as it pretty much covers the milk i need to buy in a month (how i wish id not been too proud to claim them last year)
