Egg's Money Manager

Just looking at account aggregation software it would appear that Egg is now the only UK company offering an online service. Citibank ceased to operate and I cannot find any current link to MoneySupermarket's "View My Accounts".

CORRECTION : Please see below. First Direct also offer this service free to anyone who registers.

Does anyone use the Egg service ? If so then is it any good ?

Also, do your Banks / Building Societies theoretically ban the use of such an online aggregation as part of your T&C's?

Thanks in advance.

Used Egg Money thing for 2 years now approx.

All good, use it with all my accounts however I now cannot remember my login details haha. Nevermind.

Its pretty useful but sometimes its down at the most annnoying times (they do it at night and I work during the evening so I can't always look when I get back home).

Not really much to it. I do like like it though and would recommend it.

Sounds good - the online demo looked nifty. I was impressed with the number of Banks / Building Societies that it integrates with ! Seems to be almost everyone :T

It would appear that First Direct also offer a similar service:-

It would appear that there are primarily two providers at present (Egg and First Direct) who both take advantage of the eWise Account Aggregation software.

It says on the eWise website that First Direct do not require you to be a customer to use their system:-

    http://www.ewisesystems.com/corporate/account_aggregation.html#

Any UK based visitor to www.firstdirect.com can register for
the internet banking plus service. Also, internet banking plus
incorporates 'lifestyle' information, such as online shopping,
auctions, email, air-miles and other information. Says
Etheridge, “It helps us to make our account aggregation
service different to those from other banks.”

Yeh my mum uses First Direct. Dno what she thinks of it though.

Yeh like today for instance, the Egg MM has been down ALLLLL day and I cba to go to lloyds and get the secret answer crap, just plain laziness really but still. Doesn't usually get this bad.

I wouldn't say no to it though, after all, it is free

Just tested the First Direct system and it's really rather good. Most organisations are listed - the only two I needed added were Kaupthing Edge and Birmingham Midshires. I've emailed them - to see what happens.

The product seems very good for getting a single view of your finances. :T

Yeah I use Egg's version too - very useful for getting into each of your accounts without having to remember each combination of usernames, passwords and secret data.

As far as I'm aware, it's a pretty secure way of doing it too, although I'm not too sure what other banks think of it.

The trouble with EMM and FD's service (which I haven't used for some time, so they may have improved it?) is the lack of customization. You don't necessarily what to update balances every balance each time you visit just to log in to one of the site, say.

It is surprising that rather basic options aren't included along these lines....
