Hi Ness
I googled "incontinence" and it brought up a range of sites, but one of them was this link which has disposable bed pads for cheaper than the Pampers ones...
http://www.allaboutincontinence.co.uk/catalogue/browse.php?product_Category_ID=129&parent=128
and also this one (which seems to have more re-usable ones rather than disposables, but maybe still worth a look?!)

Also, just a question, but have you spoken to your doctor/health surgery about this problem? They should be able to at least point you in the right direction, even if they can't help you on a practical level. I say this because when I was younger, my mum was a "health visitor to the elderly" which used to embarrass me dreadfully as a 12 year old as our car boot was constantly full of incontinence products(!!). Mum used to take them to various patients (and I'm fairly sure she didn't charge for them...), and was also regularly given samples by sales reps. Although this was 20+ years ago and things may have changed slightly, I'm sure that they would still have some connections in this area, which might be able to help your nana source the necessary items at a more competitive price than Asda/Tesco.
It may even be worth approaching the relevant companies directly, explaining the situation and asking for samples - if they say no, you are no worse off (apart from losing a 2nd class stamp or the price of a phone call).
Hope you find a solution. If I think of any other ways, I'll come back and post again.

Kylie's are a washable version. If you search for Kylie and the word continence or bed pad on google there will be many suppliers to buy from. Main rule is never wash them with fabric conditioner. There are full sheets or underpads/bed pads which is what I use for my sons.
I'll be honest his nursing team should be providing them if he has continence needs, if he doesn't have a regular nurse he can ask/she can ask for a referal to the local continence team via the GP etc. There is a different system in every area and will depend on area as to what they can supply. One day I might be more organised...........

Thanks, lil_me - your last point about the nursing team was my "gut feeling", but I wasn't sure how up to date my knowledge of the situation was!

Hi Piglet
You should be able to get these free from your surgery. I look after an elderly aunt and she has bed pads as well as incontinent pads delivered to her house every 8 weeks for free.
My Aunts doctors surgery has an incontenence nurse who initially came out to review the situation and then arranged all the pads.

Hi sunshine,
As others have said your grandad should be able to get these free of charge if you contact his GP they will almost certainly put you in contact with a continence nurse.
I've moved your thread across to the Health board to see if you can get any more advice.

Hi All & Thank you!
To be honest in the county they live they dont have the best care..The do already get quite a bit as he has nearly everything in the book & the care workers are really good. They couldnt provide them at first which menat a lot of washing to be done..i think the argument it was causing to justify getting them was a bit too much & very demorilising for my grandad who everything else aside he is a proud man. Ive printed the link Piglet gave earlier & they look ideal, im visiting later so will compare the absorbancy levels etc but i could be on to a winner...as much as i can be with bed pads!!
Its so bad what they pay all the time..we would double it though if it meant a better life for him still, shes old & no offence never questions money..she has no real concept of it i think!!!
Thank you all so much.

Hi sunshine - great idea to look on ebay (I never even thought about checking on there!). I'm really glad you found some at a good price...

Good luck with the support pillow!

If he's not getting the support he and your gran need you could contact their doctor and ask for them to be assessed. In our area, not sure if it's all over the country, there is a Community Matron whose job it is to help elderly people cope with their problems and enable them to stay in their own homes. Our local one is very good. If you phone your granddad's surgery they'll be able to tell you if there is one in their area, if so you needs to push for her/him to visit.0
