this is my silly question of the day - when you use the food processor is there some type of separate attachment or do you use the main part of it. i have a kenwood that has a food processor attachment - can i use that?

It's not a silly question. :D I don't know the answer as I don't have a kenwood but I think it comes as a separate attachment. See this thread:

I've been contemplating getting one of these machines. My mum used to have this really old, cheap plastic looking one that clamped to the work top.

I remember it being quite good at getting the job done, but it was hard work getting there!

I was just wondering if they had got any better since the 80's?! I've seen some electric ones and although they would seem to make the job a bit easier, some don't seem to have very good reviews. They are also a lot more expensive and is it generally worth it?

Also (and this may seem a really silly question) if I bought 1kg braising steak and then minced it myself, would the resulting mince also weigh 1kg, or does the end weight change? I want to make a few batches of things to freeze and would usually buy 1kg mince and don't want to assume it will weigh the same in the end and get it wrong!
  • Dunno if its any help, but remember the brand name of the old ones was 'Spong' lol - dunno if they still make em?

    brilliant spong poster...

I can't see how the weight could change, you will get out what you put in.
