Ultra Compact Camera

Hi
I want to buy a really small, easy to use reliable pocket camera, pref with a decent optical zoom and reasonable Megapixel level, (have researched on the net, and found very confusing advice as all the camera sites appear to offer differing advice as to which they consider to be the best small camera. But all seem to agree that having too large a megapixel ability is a bit wasted on the smaller cameras.).

Also want the ability to take pictures quickly, our current camera an Olympus MJU 400 is very slow between pics. We tried to take some pics this weekend of our son in a Triathlon and missed some vital pics, due to the cameras slow reaction time. Also would prob want a view finder, as my eye sight is not very good and the screen is usually a bit of a blur and my glasses aren't always to hand when capturing the "moment".

If anyone has purchased or is knowledgable regarding small compacts would welcome your advice and suggestions am willing to spend up to approx £250.
Thanks
