Blondie, Levellers and The Australian Pink Floyd Show will headline the main stage of GuilFest on 4/5/6th July 2008, which this year is sponsored by Commercial Radio for the first time.
Folk-punk legends Levellers headline the opening night on Friday 4th July. These festival favourites return to GuilFest with a full line-up for the first time since 1997 to celebrate their 20th anniversary. Hits such as ''What a Beautiful Day'', ''One Way'', and classics such as ''Liberty'', ''The Boatman'' and ''Sell-out'' have placed Levellers firmly as one of the UK's top acts.
Many more acts will be announced over the coming weeks.
Guilfest, which won ''Best Family Festival'' at the 2006 UK Festival Awards, takes place in the idyllic location of Stoke Park, Guildford, where visitors can expect a great weekend of live music, comedy, children''s entertainment, street theatre, art and crafts, delicious food from around the world and a truly festive atmosphere. There will also be a late licensed 150 foot beer tent and cocktail bar, an extensive children''s area, The KidZone.
GuilFest was started in 1992 by Tony Scott, who still runs and directs the festival. Tony ran a marquee hire business based on the edge of Stoke Park in Guildford Surrey. All his staff were either in bands or just music fans so it felt like a good idea to try it. The local council were open to suggestions and the first festival attracted 1,500 people per day. Now in its 17th year, GuilFest is attracting up to 24,000 visitors each day and has truly established itself as one of the UK's leading festivals.
Tickets are priced at. Adults - �40 day, �90 weekend, �100 weekend with camping. Children between 12 - 16 years old - �30 day, �50 weekend, �60 weekend with camping. N.B. Children between 12 - 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Children aged under 12 have free entrance with ticket holding adult. Camper vans tickets are �80 and can only be used in conjunction with an adult with camping ticket.
