Branston Beans at 99p (4 pack) poundstretcher

Got the beans at poundstretcher yesterday.

They usually do a pack of three princes tuna flakes for 99p too but they were sold out.

Red Mountain coffee 89p for 100g.

...for all you fans of Branston beans, watch out for the new silver tins of beans...the recipe is different: less beans, less tomatoes and in my opinion less taste....I did a bit of scratching and apparently this rebrand is 'to attract a younger market'...appears the poor old baked bean has fallen out of favour with the teens to 30 consumer...perhaps though, a 6% reduction in tomatoes in the recipe comes at a time when there are problems in the Italian tomato industry and that this is a cost cutting exercise...if the orange recipe is no more I'm afraid it'll be back to the baked bean appraisal matrix for me...as another poster mentioned I wouldn't thank you for Heinz now....!
  • I SOOOO wish I could stomach beans, being high in fibre and protein and low in fat, but an unfotunate experience with an alcoholice mum who thought it was a good idea to let me watch Alien when I was 8 put paid to that - (theyre all smooth like Alien heads) never ate a bean since

Awwww it's a shame if they have changed the recipe.:(

I have only recently found Branston and IMO the best by far. I still have a 4 pack of the old recipe but bought the bogof in Tesco this week - with the silver wrappers. May have to do a taste test to find out, tomorrow.
  • Wonder if the 'bigger beans' they do have changed too?

My chap loves these, but the aren;t usually on offer
