Sorry to hear your news.
If you are in debt, then post an SOA and we will see what we can do for you.
Depending on your line of work, try logging onto Monster.com or job site website, my OH worked as an agency worker for 2 years after he got made redundant and it turn out to be the best thing to happen to us, more money, less hours and certainly less stress.

Thanks for the reply.
Not in debt, except for mortgage (so in other words, deeply in debt)
I've already spoken to a couple of recruiters, but I'm not particularly interested in the locations they're talking about. I figure I'll give it three to four weeks to see what is available and then start contracting.Virtual sealed pot challenge #036 - 19/01/09-1/12/09 = £483.71/£750

Got a job offer today, so I'm a happy bunny. Let the recruiters do all the work, so I've had an easy two weeks in the bargain
I'm lucky to be in the position that I don't need to accept the first job I'm offered but as it turns out, this is perfect in terms of role and location so it's the one I'm going for.Virtual sealed pot challenge #036 - 19/01/09-1/12/09 = £483.71/£750

Do you recieve all of your redundancy payments? Accrued holiday, pay in leiu of notice, etc?Total 'Failed Business' Debt £29,043

All that will be coming with the June payroll payment - I'm technically still employed by my last company, but I don't have to work my notice period. In fact, I'll probably be starting my next role while still employed by the previous place - there's a week's overlap - so double money during that period
Need to check what the tax implications of that.
Holidays, unfortunately, are counted across the financial year so I'll only have earned a few in the 7 weeks or since the 2008/09 financial year began. Hardly something to complain about thoughVirtual sealed pot challenge #036 - 19/01/09-1/12/09 = £483.71/£750

If you have a union check with them that it is okay to start at the new job before you are technically finished at the old one. When my mum was made redundant there had to be a month between her old job ending and the new one starting, or she wouldnt get her redundancy settlement. As it was in excess of £20k she received, she 'volunteered' for 2 weeks at the new job before becoming a paid employee. Incidentally they initially offered all the workers under £2k in a flat settlement, the union fought for them and got them a decent settlement, as many people, my mum included, had worked there 15 years or more. Always worth a check of your contract or with the HR department or union.Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

I would hate to think what a union containing software engineers would be like! Get 100 SEs in a room, and if two agree it's a majority
Thanks for the suggestion though.Virtual sealed pot challenge #036 - 19/01/09-1/12/09 = £483.71/£750
