Newspaper Coupons Summary Mon 19th Sept

As usual...can you PLEASE post if you have access to any of the daily papers and can let us know if they have any coupons...or none at all. I usually get the Times sometime around mid-morning...so will post on that.

Information needed:
coupon type, expiry and page number
whether its a regional paper (i.e. the Daily Mail does a different northern and southern print with different coupons!)

THANK YOU!

WOnderful!! Don't apologise!! Thank you for your post, I will pick up some more copies of the Times in this case as we buy lots of Actimel - its unusual to get a voucher where I actually get the product.

So, as a % profit today...
    The Times 60p, voucher £1.34 = 74p profit = 223% return

Usually a voucher has to be around a 300% return for me to REALLY stock up but I'm running low and as its such a useful item, I can use it in Morrisons etc... as well.

May I ask two questions please?

    1) What is the expiry date on the Actimel voucher?

    2) BlueP - can you explain your rationale behind the voucher having to be worth 300%? 300% of what? Sorry dont understand.

    Thanks

    300% Return he means
  • Sorry - I still dont get it. How can you get a 300% return on one coupon?

No thats the minimum he would ususally take.

For example the Times coupon ihas a return of:

    £1.74/£0.60 *100% = 223%

What he would usually look for is something costing say a £1 with a £3 coupon on so his return would be:

    £3.00/£1.00 * 100% = 300%
  • I see, thanks.

    Ah ok.
for example, this weeks Best magazine has around 70p of coupons that I could use (the Tescos ones aren't any use to me) but the magazine costs 70p so that is a 100% return - you are getting 100% of vouchers in comparison to what you paid for the magazine.

However, the Daily Mail a couple of weeks ago had £3 worth of vouchers in that I could use and only cost 40p, so that was a 750% return. I was getting 7.5x my initial outlay of 40p. This made it worth going out and buying 20 of them as they had a long expiry date.

So today's Times isn't bad - 2x what I paid for it back in vouchers. But as they are vouchers that are actually for a product I buy weekly - so Tescos, Morrisons etc... will accept them, it makes it worth buy a fair few for me, depending on their expiry date. If they expire in a month or a couple of months time, then I'll buy 20 or 30 copies of the Times.

    Does that make sense?

heh. I just find it personally a good way of reminding myself whether its worth picking up loads of them to "stock up" or whether its better to wait for another good deal and not get carried away.

I DIDN'T buy as many of the Zing magazines as I should have 2 months ago - as that was a 1200% return, I am now kicking myself. I've stopped buying coupons on eBay as they used to go for around 400% return (£2.50 for £10 worth of vouchers) but have now dropped to 200% - 250% return.

The Actimel coupon is in the T2 section of the Times. Value = £1.34
    Disappointing expiry date of 25/09/05
