CREDIT REPORT- Strange Entry

Hi There

This is my first post- and I wasn't sure which forum to put it in. Hope this is OK.

I've recently been paying off debts that I ran up as a Student and as I have settled most of them I decided to check my Credit File to see what was on there and check it was all correct. There was 3 entries under my Account Information- 2 of which were correct and up-to-date. But there is one for a company I have never heard of or spoken to- AKTIV KAPITAL (UK) (who, from reading around, I hear are not so good to deal with). Its says that the default balance was £2,006 but that the current balance is £426- suggesting that money has been paid on the account by someone. It says the account was defaulted on 22/10/2004 but what concerns me most is that apparently the account/entry was started on 12/05/1994. I would have been 12 in 1994!

I have no financial associates and noone else is linked to my Credit File.

Please could anybody give me a bit of advice as to what I need to do next. Is there anyway I can find out who Aktiv Kapital bought the debt off of, or if this is even a genuine entry on my credit report, since I would not have been old enough to take out credit at the time they claim it was started. I would love to avoid contacting AK directly as I have read that they can be quite difficult to deal with- but if I have to, which would be the best letter to send first?

Thank you in advance to anyone who could help me.
