I live in Derbyshire where we have one larger than normal wheelie bin (as got a large family) a small box for glasss and a small one for tins we are also given a blue medium size bag for cardboard. They empty the bins and bags on alternate weeks. My problem is they will give us a larger bin for rubish but will not let us recycle a larger amount. They just will not take it and leave it next to the road why??????????? I've rang and they told me to take it to local super market... in my car... so much for councils wanting to reduce everyones carbon foot print.

Its the same here, the only things we can put out for the recycling collection are tins, jars, milk bottles and newspapers, but any cardboard or plastic bottles we have empty we take them to the recycling banks when we do the shopping, could you not do the same thing, it means its not an extra tripNo Links in Signature by site rules - MSE Forum Team 20

I also live in derbyshire (NE Derbyshire) but we have a green bin (garden waste, cardboard, collected every 2 weeks), a black bin and a blue box (Glass, cans etc). But I have no way of recycling plastic, without taking it to the supermarket.
I don't understand why different councils have different policies.Money, money, money, must be funny....in a rich mans world.

yep could do but derbyshire council are ment to collect my cardboard thats what i pay my £120 per month for. The most expensive bin emptying service i no of as dont use sports halls or anything else. We are only given what i would call a toy box to put our recycling in not a bin... as for garden rubbish they did that once then it ended0
