you got your money back...whats the problem? You should not expect to get extra money back for nothing.

Asda when they charge you wrong instore dont always give me the £2 voucher, but I dont ask - as its something they give you to apologise. Its not expected

I disagree, it is Tesco policy to give double the difference if you are overcharged, so seeing as it is their policy, I would expect them to stick to it. Same goes for Asda, it is actually their policy to give you that giftcard so you should expect to get it.

The cynical side of me thinks that whenever Asda staff give you the difference but no giftcard they *could* pocket the giftcard for themselves when it was intended for you. Same could go for Tesco staff not giving the double difference.

All i asked was should i have got double the difference for an overcharge online ,as you do for an overcharge in store,There is no need for the snide remarks.Sometimes i despair of this forum, people jump down others throats for absolutely no reason except to be nasty.

Indeed people come on here for help not be shot down for asking a perfectly legitimate question.

It IS Tesco's policy to give double the difference, I suggest next time you are near the customer service desk to look at the big blue board where it says "If things dont add up" either that or on the smaller white posters by the tills, they also quote the policy, something along the lines of "In the unlikely event your are charged more than the price shown we will give you double the difference"

I'm not 100% sure if that applies to home shopping (although I think it should)

And most Tescos will try not to abide by it, you have to remind them of their own policy! (Great for a retail giant to have to be reminded of its own policies by its customers dont you think?)

Its not the same policy for home shopping , its only DTD in store . Home shopping they just refund the difference.
