Aspirin during pregnancy - any experience of this?

I'd get a better Dr. I worked in a Pharmacy until recently and the only time we'd recommend anything other than paracetamol for pregnant women was if REALLY neccessary. Eg risky areas such as LONG flights, one low dose aspirin on the way, one on the way back.
Aspirin can cause development problems and a syndrome (can't remember name, sorry!) in children under 16 if they take it themselves. Seen as most medicines are under >12< this kinda shows it's a little more difficult as a medicine...
I'd hate to think how it could effect a developing baby.
In low doses, if the Dr says it's okay, then I guess it must be.
Don't just take my word, this is just from what I've been taught, so Dr should know a lot better than me.
I'd request a blood test to see if it's REALLY neccessary and make sure you're told the risks and ask any questions about anything you're worrying about.
Anyway, don't worry about it, just make sure you know what you need to know. And good luck!
The lady who originally asked the question may read this and be even more scared now then before. But i wouldn't be. The consultants should know what they are doing, and wouldnt give out anything dangerous to an unborn baby. As i said-if worried, go back and ask and dont leave until you are happy with their reponse.
I know other ladies who have been given low dose aspirin and have been fine (baby and mom)-so dont automatically be worried. I know the reasons why im taking it, and im happy to continue until told otherwise. Im having regular scans and check ups-so i know all is going well.

I'm sorry but a lot of what has been written in this thread is incorrect. However, this is not the place to get into arguments over medical risk vs benefits.
I would not ring NHS direct or your midwife. Go see your GP and ask about this.
Well i have seen my gp, midwife and two consultants-so i know im in safe hands. This thread will probably be locked/deleted soon.

i had to take low dose asprin throughout my second pregnancy as i was at risk for another abruption- i asked my consultant and he assured me that the dose was too low to do any harm to the baby
taking it didnt make any difference to me as i abrupted anyway but hey ho!2011- new year, new start.

I have sought the further advice of a midwife and peoples' experiences recounted here have been helpful.Member no.1 of the 'I'm not in a clique' group :rotfl:
