Bought item before the sale

Hi All.
I bought the Alexander leather chair and 2 seater sofa from Argos on Saturday. I paid £265 for the chair, and got it delivered. I've just gone online and see that it's been reduced to £200.
Is there anyway anyone thinks I could get the extra £265 back without having to order it again and return the original? Would having a word with someone at Argos work, saying to them that if they just give me the difference it'd save everyone, including them a lot of messing about or is that just wishful thinking? lol

There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.

Not even if I say that I asked if they were going to have a sale soon and was told no?
I'm clutching at straws here, I don't have room for a great big chair in a box to be hanging around if I order it again lol. There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. I don't know why you say 'of course not!' in that way.
Amazon do exactly that - if you buy something and it goes down in price within a given time period they will refund the difference.
OP it is worth finding out if Argos has a price match policy (I don't know the answer). If they do, it may be possible to get them to pricematch in the same way as amazon.
If not, it looks like you'll have to return and re-order (with the risk that it may be out of stock by then!)I'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.0 -
Thanks, I'll check that out. If not, I might just order it again and when it arrives, ring up for it to be sent straight back, saying it's the first one I ordered, as I've got rid of the box for the original. I'll have to make room if it means it'll save me £60!There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. you will have more luck with this with delivered items than you will with store bought items.
phone up argos direct and explain the situation, often they will refund the difference, but not until the 30 day money back guarantee has expired. they will add a note to your file if they are happy to refund the difference, and you will need to contact them again 30 days after delivery to request the refund of the difference.
ask nicely, and im sure they will be generous.
FOR ANYONE CONSIDERING BUYING ONE OF THESE, DONT DITHER - THERE HAVE ALREADY BEEN STOCK AVAILABILITY ISSUES AND AT THESE PRICES STOCK WONT HANG AROUND FOR LONG.know thyselfNid wy'n gofyn bywyd moethus...0 -

Thanks a lot, I'll give that a try. Does it make any difference if I actually paid for it in store? Thing is too, the back cushion of the chair is a bit funny, like the corner doesn't have any stuffing so I'd rather have a new one. I could argue that point too I'm hoping, as in re-order another, refund for the old one, and just swap the cushion over when the new one arrives. The delivery drivers didn't find it easy getting the box in my lounge, so I'd rather save them the stress lol.
P.s. Please don't tell people not to dither or there won't be one left for me to order!

no, its the face that it is a delivery only item that swings most in your favour, and this would be the case regardless of whether you ordered in store, online or over the phone.
with regard to your faulty chair, i would recommend getting a replacement. as i said, stock IS limited, and a replacement of part of an existing order would take priority over a new order.
also, if you are to have any further issues with the suite (i am not aware of any problems with this suite but you never know), then the fact that you have already had one replacement will be documented, and would go in your favour were you to have later issues with faults etc.

You sir (or madam) are a star! Getting the refund in 30 days exactly how you said, and also getting the cushion replaced on Monday. The gentleman on the phone was very nice too. I feel so much better at what I thought was a stupid question. Thanks heaps! :jThere's a storm coming, Mr Johnson.
