cccscollect - direct debit?

hiya

I owe £28.82 to CCSCOLLECT ....I did arrange to pay half this week...in fact I arranged to pay this before two weeks ago but money is tighter than expected. After arranging £14.41 on the phone on monday, they agreed to hold the account until payment was phoned in with visa electron card, was also told I would be charged £2.50 for paying with the card.

The thing is today I get a letter which is dated before I made the call and arranged payment...on the back of that letter it has a direct debit slip to fill in...I did ask before could I do one off payment of direct debit and they said no...so what would happen if I filled it in and sent it to them...would they refuse it...

I find they are very demanding if I phone..so am thinking of sending this direct debit slip to them with a cover note explaining I am on benefit and please take the balance as one payment by direct debit...and then put a date say three weeks time so as to allow it to get set up...

or would they refuse this...as in would it cost them to do a one off payment direct debit...

I would ask to pay it via online banking or a SO. I wouldnt pay via the card as I think its cheeky to add on £2.50 charge. The draw back with filling out their DD mandate is that you will normally have no control over when it goes out, most companies have a set date.

You know I would never ever ever pay via card over the phone or dd anymore. PO payment or standing order and that's it, these people are not to be trusted.
Debt free and plan on staying that way!!!!

If you are going to do a DD for a date of your choosing and you are paying the full amount then you should be ok. Keep an eye on internet banking and the moment that DD goes out you make sure you cancel it so they cant "accidently" take any further sneaky payments. As for if they will let you, I dont see why not, if anyone rings then just tell them you have filled out a DD form.

I will put a letter in stating I am on benefit and I live alone, plus will also say money for that payment will not be in until the day before it is due to go out...and will also state their direct debit guarantee about if they take money before date I have stated that they will have to refund and pay my bank charges should they decide to take it before...

any letters examples on here I can type out...

I would pay by SO rather than DD, it means you control the amount, not them and you choose the date of payment. The only thing to remember is that standing orders take 2 or 3 days to reach the payee so have the date as a few days before it is due to reach them.

it does not mention standing order...not even on their website. How would I do this...but the direct debit has a gurantee on it...

also would you do it as £14.41 and then month later the final £14.41 with direct debit...

I have ccscollect identification number...but dont know if that is just for direct debit as it is on direct debit form which means where it is being paid to...

Have done letter explaining direct debit one of payment for full amount is best way for me with being on benefit, and that it has to go out on or after the date I have put which is 12th June, this should be enough time for them to set it all up.

I put this at the end of letter..."So please accept this payment method as I would be truly grateful as it allows me to get this sorted in a way that allows me to pay my priority bills as well."

I am sending it recorded post.

do you think they will refuse this payment method of one off direct debit. I am not phoning them as they are too demanding.
