HBOS £500m Securitisation

You (mortgage brokers anyway) probably read about this in the papers today.

My question is are we right to view this as positive news? This is the first securitisation of significant value for some time and it will be interesting to see if other lenders will follow suit. I understand that this is only a small amount in comparison to the levels seen last year but will this spark the mortgage market back into life.

or is this just another false dawn?

fingers crossed :money:

Some lenders will be able to offload their books, but if they have a load of dodgy self cert, sub prime and BTL mortgages, then may be not.
