Taking Barclays to court whats my chances

Please anyone help me.

.
I would like advise on the actions of Barclays bank regarding the below mentioned accounts.

I do believe that an injustice has been done and it has proved very difficult to make any headway in getting to the bottom of the matter.

In December 2005 Barclays Bank closed all linked accounts without supplying a valid reason or explanation.
Despite countless appeals via the local branch and branch managers, the Barclays official line on this matter was that head office would not reply to give a reason why the accounts had to be closed.
As the accounts were a mixture of business accounts and personal I could see no reason as to why the accounts should ‘All’ be closed especially the personal.
In general the accounts were run in a reasonable manner especially the personal accounts that were run in an excellent manner.
I believe that Barclays with the financial position that they have, having a financial overview of the consequences that this action would cause to me personally and to my business;
Neglected their obligatory duty of care.
Deliberately ignored appeals and requests for a reason into why they carried out this action.
Despite the local branch managers, trying to help in avoiding this action, the message relayed at branch level was that there was no response from Barclays head office other than to continue to close all linked accounts.
A reason could not be validated by any of the immediate Barclays staff and letters addressed to head office were not relied to.
Subsequently All accounts were closed both business and personal with devastating effects.
All credit lines defaulted as Barclays called in all loans and credit agreements immediately.
These were quickly passed on to debt recovery agencies.
This also caused the default of all credit cards that I had (all mainly Barclays linked)
As a result my personal credit rating became black listed. Unable to gain any form of credit and in serious debt.
My business was forced to close.
My business partner suffered a similar fate but had enough assets to get out of trouble 18mths later.
Apart from the severe financial strain, personal strain and health strains I have managed to continue to work.
After initially contacting the CCCS I set up arrangements with all my creditors which over 2 years down the line are all still in place and no one has taken me to court.
However I am now incurring ridiculous monthly interest charges from credit cards that I have no way of gaining credit to sort out.
Not believing that I would get anywhere and not having the funds to afford legal help I have not done anything about it, (stupidly) before now.
I believe that Barclays should take a responsibility for this action which not only affected my life but also the lives of others connected with my business.
I hope that I can see in any data details of the specific Exit action plan to close all the linked accounts and maybe a reason for this action.
Never the less I still believe that Barclays had no reason to close these accounts, especially my personal accounts where any debt was comfortably managed prior.
I realise that it will not be easy to do but, is it possible that if this case came to court or before a judge that Barclays could be judged guilty of neglect , given their duty of care as a responsible lender and financial institution with the financial overview that they have.
If this action ever went to court in a claim against me, I could counter claim given the above.
To date I have contacted Barclays:
Re. 8 different Account numbers:

I contacted Barclays Bank with regards to supplying all the data held on the above named accounts including;
‘’Copies of all correspondence and data held’’ regarding the above linked account numbers not just bank statements.
Under the Protection Act 1998, I am not requesting the statements per se, but the data held which I’m entitled to by law.
On the 20th May I received all the statements relevant to the above accounts but no Data.
On the 21st May I requested the data to be sent.
I await to see what they send now. Any help appreciated

    Hi Pmml,

Welcome to the board. You have come to the right place for help and advice :). I am afraid I can't offer any constructive advice, but will "bump" this up so that hopefully someone else can help.

    Good luck with your case.

Go to the Financial Ombudsman Service, not court.

You can get their telephone number from their website and call them to discuss your complaint.

I have spoken to the ombudsman and tehy cannot help, the banks can close your accounts as long as they give you 30days notice regardless of consequence.
they are a business and if they don't wnat yours they can just cut you off regardless.
the ombudsman deals with wrong processec and errors that cause losses.
    they advise legal action..

After many years of trying have come to the conclusion that there is absolutely nothing that can be done and, despite all of the hardship and worrying myself sick I wish I have declared myself bankrupt in 2004 as I would be almost finished by now and probably a lot healthier and happier.
As it now looks like it will end up that way anyway..
What a waste of nearly 6 years..
