Wednesday 21/05/08, what small DFW things have you done today?

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free.

Examples could be charging your phone up at work instead of at home to save your electricity, hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important.

Mornng everyone and any new posters!

- It is not a DFW day for me unfortunately... took the car in for an MOT this morning, and it ended up costing over £200. And my car tax was also due this month, so just paid £35 for that as well. Feels a bit like all my hard work this month has been pointless - everything I clawed back, has just had to be spent again. :( So incredibly demotivating. Couldn't even bring myself to want to cook this evening after all that so now we ordered takeout as well (I know it's not helping!).
- TV license due this month as well... have to find another £135 for that yet.
- not really worth it compared to the above but got a £2 voucher from a crisp company from a complaint letter I sent a while back
- did piggy click (not sure this is actually worth it either... 5pts a day for a zillion years might garner a fiver?!). Ditto Toluna, though I did another survey all about cat food today.
- accepted two more MS jobs though I'm getting sick of spending every moment trying to do or find MS jobs on top of the demanding job I have already. I had a narky email from one of the MS companies today, because they had sent me 2 emails (one last night, and one late morning tonight) and I "still" hadn't downloaded my paperwork (the jobs aren't til Sunday and next Tuesday and are simple - and I'd have printed stuff off today anyway) since the first note (?!). I was so fed up reading it I wrote back and told them if they expected such IMMEDIATE action I'd basically quit. All over a job worth about five quid. Naturally they haven't replied. Shall I send another before bed, and then complain at them in the morning they haven't responded fast enough? Bah humbug.
- I haven't checked online banking today... don't need any more bad news and I am not in a pro-money frame of mind!
- Came back on here in an effort to not want to book a holiday to get away from everything on my credit card. Trying to motivate myself to put all my MS jobs into a spreadsheet so I can keep track/record of them easier if I don't give it up entirely.

I think I just need a night off from thinking so intently about money.

    Hi everyone,
    I have
    - wrote cheque to pay my CC off (online banking wasnt working), now only have productive debt relating to my business, no nasty debt Martn doesnt like! I once thought I would post on roll of honour at this stage, but somehow it doesnt feel right, I still have £5K on 0% CC and £8K loan I took out to start a part time business (which earns 24% interest) I am now aiming to pay the CC off. If I hadnt set up the business I would be debt free!
    - wrote to student loans to request a refund on payment taken in error
    - wrote a cheque to solicitors I ended up owing them from when I set up the business, have been arguing I shouldnt have to pay this fee since december, they got it from £300 to £88
    - posting an ebay parcel
    - going to a playgroup that doesnt cost me anything
-transfer some money manually from barclays to halifax, seen as they wouldnt let me do transactions online
    - look into developing a new business idea tonight
