  • Day 2 of trying to get myself Debt free I phoned up to try and cancel my of so expensive shared house and asked my mum if I could come and stay with her that way I can try and save some money and try to get my life back on track :)
When I phoned up to cancel the falt they said I have to send a email, a fax and also a letter and when they recieve it they will give four weeks notice. That means I still have to pay for the most expensive place ever :(
I am asking my mum who is a female verson of Martin for some help to write a perfessonal letter as I suffer minor dislectict and find it hard to spell correclty and stuff.
Whilst I am living here I can seek help and we both have decided to become debt free buddys and try and get our life sorted. Hope it goes well. Wish me luck now all I have to do is try and get in touch with all the comapnies and find out how much in total are my debts and how much the APR is.
I will keep blogging to let you guys all know how my process is going. If anyone has any suggestions of where I can start please help.
    Thanks
    Cheeky Cass :P
  • Here is a rough figure of my SOA

Monthly Income is 690.00 a month
    Rent......430
Travel........50.00 but my b/f helps with that sometimes :)
Food.........100.00 it is mostly Asda Value
    Cigs/fags.........20.00

Which leaves me with 90.00 a month
If anyone can Help that would be great and much appreciated.
    Thanks

    How much do you owe?
What about gas, electricity, TV licence, Council Tax etc.
    What about clothes, haircuts etc.
What sort of travel is it, can you cut this back at all, walking places, getting lifts with people?
Have you checked you are claiming everything you are entitled to? You may be entitled to working tax credits, check out www.entitledto.com
When you are food shopping to you plan your menus in advance and take a list with you only buying what is on the list. You may only be buying Asda Value, but if you waste any of it, buy for the sake of it or don't use and of it then it is costing you more than you actually need to spend. Have a look at the old Style board for other tips on reducing your food spend.

What happens to the other £90 pm, if you don't know, try keeping a spending diary so that you can account for every penny, you'll be surprised how much the odd chocolate bar here and magazine there adds up to.

Sorry to have to say it, but you should give up the fags as well.

    Good luck.
  • Hi Cass

Do you really owe any of these companies money?

It's not unusual for Debt Collection companies to target everyone with the same name as the person they're chasing.
  • Morning everyone sorry I havn't been in touch lately. Here is the latest news. I tried to look online for the loan companey that I have borrowed from and all it is saying car finace I havn't aken a car finace loan out. I don't even drive. Thanks for getting in touch Welshlassie The rent I pay for includes the heating and electric but I have noticed that I said I pay 430 for rent on a flat well it is not a flat it's a medium size room in Chiswick, so sorr that was my bad :(
I have ried to look at other ways I can get to work but it takes e an hour and a half to travel on the bus. Noone at my work lives by me they live at the other side of london :(
Thanks SunderlandBlackCat for getting in touch the answer to your question is yes I owe money to these companies when I was younger and not as wise as I am today when I wnet shopping they were like would you like this store card to show you are avalid customer ect... and of course I went for it not thinking of about the APR charges hey add on top of the account ect.
I am now looking around my flat looking for any letters that I have recievd so I can see how much I actually owe. I have given it a rough estimate of 400.00 in debt but it might be more that's why I am looking for the letters. That way I can also find out the APR charges as well.
    I will keep everyone updated.
Thanks for all your kind Comments.
