Anyone trained as a Home Inspector? (HIPs etc.)

Seems this will be a growing sector with the introduction of HIPs for all homes going on the market.
I'm particularly interested in the Energy Assesor side of things, and wondered if anyone had any feedback on whether the courses on offer are worth it and a decent career can be carved out in this sector?

I'd be very wary of trying to make a career out of being a home inspector doing HIPs packs. Not least becuase they will probably be overhualed, if not scrapped at the next General Election. Also, my Brother, who is a mortgage broker, reckons that they are not helping the market and are mostly ignored by prosepctive buyers.0

Over a year ago I read that many people had done the training, even borrowed the money to do it and handed in their notice at good jobs ... only for the Govt to turn round and change the dates of introduction.
I suspect there are a lot of people who have trained for it who will never find the work.

There was me trying to get an honest job after being made redundant recently - seems a shame that there doesnt seem to be any around nowadays!
So I assume these companies training home inspectors are doing it for the dollar knowing full well theres no work likely?0 -
The work is there, as it's now a legal requirement to have a HIPs pack when you bring your house to market. My point is that like so much legislation of the past 11 years it was poorly drafted and not given proper scrutiny. The end effect being that one way or another the HIP's pack will (if it hasn't already) fall into disrepute and eventually be dropped. In effect it is yet another way of raising revenue and could be used to adjust tax bands for properties in any future re-evaluation.0

Hip, hip, hooray. That's them out of business then. I guess they'll have to wait for the next bandwagon to come along so they can cobble together a training course and charge £995.00 for it.0
