Will be starting new hours at work tomorrow which means b/f will have to fend for himself, but after an hours commute won't want to cook, so I have been freezing meals ready, but is it better to cook them straight from frozen, or let them defrost first?
Its mainly stuff like Lasagne, fish pie, casserole

I do both, do make sure it's piping hot you don't want under cooked food, that way lies food poisoning.
One advantage of defrosting first is that it cooks quicker and you use less fuel and less money to get to the correct temperature.0 -
i'm with dumpy on this one. You could suggest to b/f that he gets his meal out of the freezer the night before, put it in the fridge to defrost, get it out and microwave it when he gets home. I have a similar commute (ugh!) and this works v well!
If he forgets to get it out of the freezer the night before, he can do it in the morning and just leave it out on the worktop all day. Unfortunately with 3 inquisitive and greedy cats, we can't do this!
I'd reiterate the tip on making sure it is piping hot!Not Buying It 20150 -
I batch cook stuff and then freeze it in individual servings.
Of course, I always remember to take them out of the freezer and then allow them to defrost in the fridge.
Meanwhile, back in the real world, I blast them from frozen when I get home.
Either way, as above, ensure that they are piping hot.The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.0 -
