Dunelm

I have had a new experience today visiting a Dunelm mill store and it was just FAB!

A friend told me it was worth a trip - it was but I had never heard of these stores before. I was amazed at the range of bedding, curtains, household wares they had and how cheap they were: Slumberland King size fleecy mattress protector £12.99, pack of 4 pillowcases £3.50 and unlined curtains with tie backs £1.99 (!) per pair.

Sorry if this has all been told before (nothing much on a search) I will definitely be visiting again!

  • Queer kettle of fish that with a name like "Dunelm" one might expect them to have some connections with Durham (it's allegedly the latin name for Durham - the Bishop of Durham signs himself "Dunelm") - yet they appear to be based in Leicestershire..... I guess Ratae Mill doesn't trip off the tongue so easily ;)

In many cases it helps if you say where you are - someone with local knowledge might be able to give local specifics rather than general advice

I thought I'd found a great place too when I went to Dunelm but have had nothing but problems with them. I ordered curtains and it has to be said that they have no idea how to take measurements. It took 4 hours and 3 assistants to try and work measurements out and I still ended up with a valance over 3 times the size needed and also the wrong shape.Took months to sort out and I must say that their customer relations leaves a lot to be desired. Also bought a mirror. Put it up on wall and noticed that a cord hanging from light when looked at in mirror hang at an angle of 45 degrees (I hadn't been drinking!!). My mother bought a blind and it fell down after a couple of weeks as the fittings were not up to much. I was so disappointed as I thought Dunelm seemed to have such a great range of things.

excellent value for money in my opinion.
  • Oh dear sorry Bargains Galore that you were disappointed; I have ordered some curtains from them so we will wait and see. I took the size of my track, length I wanted and it took about 3 minutes to fill in the order form. They worked off my measurements- not sure where you went wrong.

I took previous curtain details but thery insisted they had to work with their formula. After much disagreement they finally told us that they have now changed their formula so hopefully you will be alright!

Otherwise you'll have to find someone to alter them ;)
