Amberloan/Cabot problems

A couple of years ago I took out an unsecured personal loan from Amberloan (Part of Skipton Building Society, apparently) and late last year was told that Amberloan were no longer dealing in unsecured loans and that the debt had been sold on to Cabot Financial UK, who are, by all accounts, a debt collection agency. I'm not very happy about this, and was just looking for a bit of advice.
Firstly, will this have an adverse effect on my credit rating? I've never defaulted on any payments and the payments for this Amberloan have continued to be paid every month by myself. I've never been in this position before and just wondered that if by merely being associated with a debt collection agency, will affect my credit score?
Secondly, I have been reading up about CCA's and am I right in thinking that if I send one of the template CCA letters to Cabot and they cannot produce a signed CCA then after a certain amount of time the debt becomes un-enforceable?
Thanks in advance for any help!!

Ring Skipton BS on 01756 705000 (reception number - not call centre) and ask to speak to someone in Amber. You my get a straight answer from there.
I will try and find out off my contacts if I can get you an answer if you find that my suggestion has not workedI am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it. If you do decide to carry on paying Cabot now that they own your account, make sure they do not charge any more interest than you were contracted to with Amberloan.
Personally though, if I was dumped the same way all Amberloan cutomers have been, I'd be tempted to ask Cabot to prove the debt is enforcable. Yes, it's probably immoral to dodge a debt. But then, so is what Amberloan have done to you.Cabot can now kiss my DONKEY. Statute barred is enough of a result, but the actions of the CABOT FAN CLUB have cost them far more than the paltry sums they were chasing us for. :beer:0 -
After two days of trying to speak to someone, I finally spoke to Amberloan who said that only a portion of their customers' debts were sold onto Cabot, and that mine wasn't one of them and I'm still an Amberloan/Skipton customer.
So that's that sorted - thanks for the help!0 -
They're still a bunch of t wats though for dumping so many of their customers on this rogue company.Cabot can now kiss my DONKEY. Statute barred is enough of a result, but the actions of the CABOT FAN CLUB have cost them far more than the paltry sums they were chasing us for. :beer:0
